University of Lynchburg’s new residence hall opening delayed

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Earlier today, the University of Lynchburg announced changes to the opening of its new residence hall which has been under construction since summer 2018.

According to a statement submitted to WFXR News by the University, completing the 90,000 square-foot residence hall in 14 months was an ambitious project. The University says during most of the summer, construction was on-schedule to house students as they are scheduled to move back to campus later this month but various construction delays over the last few weeks have extended the time they need to address more details to meet students’ expectations when the residence hall ultimately opens which, according to the University, will be soon.

The University of Lynchburg has partnered with Liberty University to house about 240 students in “The Annex,” a former hotel that L.U. has used for student housing in the past, located on Odd Fellows Road. The University of Lynchburg will provide frequent transportation as well as security at the facility.

Furniture will begin to be moved into the new residence hall next week as the University of Lynchburg hopes to start to move students into the new residence hall in early September.
