DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — A man and woman are charged in the case of a dead dog.

Authorities responded to the 300 block of Edmonds Street on Wednesday night for an animal cruelty report where a dead dog was found inside a fenced lot.

Officers learned Michael Bolling and Sarah Simerly were the owners of the dog, and charged them with felony animal cruelty.

A second dog and rabbit were seized from the pair. The dog is in good condition and the rabbit is malnourished.

Both animals were transported to the Danville Area Humane Society.

A necropsy is being performed on the dead dog to determine what caused its death.
