Twin Valleys Roller Derby taking donations for home opener

The Twin Valleys Roller Derby team is kicking off their first home bout of the season Saturday and they’ll be taking donations for a Roanoke charity.

The game will be Saturday at the civic center starting at 5 p.m. and another at 7 p.m.

The group is also raising money and collecting donations to go towards the Angels of Assisi. They are taking:

  • Purina Dog Chow small bites
  • Purina Dog Chow
  • Purina Puppy Chow
  • Purina Kitten Chow
  • Purina Cat Chow (Indoor)
  • Non-clumping, Un-scented cat litter
  • Paper towels
  • Laundry detergent
  • Bleach
  • Monetary donations are always welcome as they extensive medical costs for many animals that are unfortunate victims of abuse and neglect.

“We want to be involved in our community, we want our community to be involved with us. As part of what we do as a non-profit we try to find something to give back to the community,” said Business Director for the team Cathy Cockrell.

Angels of Assisi crews will also be on site with pets up for adoption and anyone who brings a donation can receive a discount.
