Truck slams into Lynchburg furniture store

News

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Lynchburg Police are on the scene of a truck vs. furniture store accident.

Around 8:30 Friday morning, police were called to Buddy’s Home Furnishings in the 5200 block Fort Avenue after a grey Toyota Tacoma reportedly attempted to turn onto Fort Avenue while accelerating at a high rate of speed, missed the turn, and crashed into the furniture store.

When police arrived on the scene, the first thing they noticed was half of a truck sticking out of the store. Lynchburg police said the driver of the Tacoma, 43-year-old Robert Anthony Day of Forest, was arrested outside the store and charged with drive under the influence of drugs (DUID), possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, property damage, and urinating in public.

While the store sustained a great deal of damage, no injuries were reported.
