Truck, house fire cause $50,000 in damage to Catawba/Masons Cove area home

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A truck fire in the Catawba/Masons Cove area of Roanoke County left the truck charred and a home with $50,000 in damage.

Roanoke County Fire and Rescue said its crews were called to the fire in the 7800 block of Bending Oak Drive around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from a pickup truck and a home on the property. The fire was under control within an hour.

Roanoke County Fire and Rescue said the cause of the fire was burning too closet to the home.

A man lived in the house. He was able to escape without injuries. He and a dog are staying with family following the fire.
