PULASKI, Va. (WFXR) – The town of Pulaski was been recognized by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources and the National Park Service’s Certified Local Government Program with a Certified Local Government Sub-Grant, an award the town received last year as well.
The new Certified Local Government Sub-Grant will support Pulaski’s comprehensive update of the historic design guidelines for the Town’s downtown historic district.
Funds from the grant will support the town of Pulaski’s hiring of a historic preservation consultant to study the Town’s existing guidelines and processes as well as updating those guidelines to reflect current practices and new technologies. This will also serve as a strategic opportunity to encourage education regarding the Town’s historic assets, along with providing potential investors with the tools needed to take on historic preservation projects. A disaster planning component will also be included in updating the guidelines, recognizing the impacts of Peak Creek as well as other natural downtown assets.
