TAMPA (WFLA/CNN) – It looks like the tooth fairy is getting a little more budget-conscious in 2019.

According to the yearly survey from Delta Dental, the average payout for a lost tooth is $3.70 – that’s down 43 cents from last year. A first tooth is a little more valuable, at $4.96.

However, Delta Dental says it really matters where you live as American children in the west average about $4.13 per tooth, while kids in the south get $3.91, in the northeast, a tooth can get you $3.75 and, teeth in the midwest earn the least a mere $2.97.
