LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR)- Today, a big donation was made by the Carter Craft Foundation for the B.I.K.E. Program started by One Community, One Voice in partnership with the Lynchburg Police Department.

B.I.K.E stands for believing in kids excelling, a merit-based program that gives students the opportunity to earn a bike by improving their grades, attendance, or behavior.

The Carter Craft Foundation has been gracious to many local organizations and programs and felt inspired to donate 16 bikes today to B.I.K.E in honor of their late son.

You know we lost Carter at an early age, he was 19, and we want kids to be successful. You know today’s world is hard and you know anything we can do to help young kids is something that’s important and we believe Carter is looking down and smiling at us for doing things for kids.

Last year 60 students earned a bike by showing positive development.

Partners of this program desire to expand to more schools and are always accepting donations to improve student performance and the successful incentive program.
