LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department arrested a woman suspected in a robbery at Fort Hill Mart on Nov. 22.

Officers arrested 34-year-old Teja Marie Ewell. She is charged with the following:

  • Robbery
  • Felony Eluding
  • Identity Theft
  • Reckless Driving

Lynchburg police responded to a reported robbery at 5210 Fort Ave on Tuesday Nov. 22 around 8:30 a.m.. A press release says the suspect assaulted the cashier and stole the cash register. Police say they confirmed Ewell was driving a maroon Sedan through surveillance video at the mart.

The vehicle was located on Tulip Street where officers say Ewell fled the scene as they tried to approach the vehicle. The pursuit ended on the 2300 block of Rivermont Ave. and Ewell was taken into custody.

LPD says Ewell was wanted on charges from a previous incident in Lynchburg including failure to comply with a court order, credit card theft, credit card fraud, and petit larceny.

There were no reported injuries.

Ewell is being held without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.
