Suspect arrested after August shooting in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – A suspect has been arrested relating to a malicious wounding on Buchanan Street in Lynchburg on August 19.

On September 10 at 9:51 p.m., Lynchburg Police officers took Nicholas Jones, 37, of Amherst, into custody following a traffic stop. He is facing several charges relating to the August incident including malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of marijuana, three counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling and driving on a suspended/revoked license.

Jones was wanted after the malicious wounding on August 19 which happened in the 1100 block of Buchanan Street that sent one woman to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries from a gunshot wound.

He is currently being held ;in the Lynchburg Adult Detention Center without bond.
