Surface work to begin tonight on I-81 south at the Route 220 split in Botetourt County

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – VDOT reports that milling and paving operations will begin at 7 p.m. tonight on Interstate 81 at exit 150 in Botetourt County.

At that time, the southbound right lane will be closed on the bridge deck over Route 220. Drivers should use caution and expect grooved pavement conditions in this area. Motorcyclists should use the left lane only.

On Wednesday night, August 21, paving operations will begin on the bridge deck at 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning or until the pavement is cured.

Also, an extended lane closure has been scheduled to begin Friday, August 23 at 8 p.m. to Saturday, August 24 at 10 a.m. for the northbound right lane of I-81 at exit 150.
