DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – Members of the Danville Fire Department spent part of this week alongside student-athletes from the Averett University Cougars baseball team to install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in homes around the city.

This was made possible by a grant awarded to the fire department from First Alert and the Town/Gown Fire Safety Community Service Project.

The goal of the project is to get students working with firefighters to conduct home safety visits and install First Alert smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
