Two waves of stormy weather will move through the area today and into the evening. Look for the first round of storms to arrive in the heat of the day and be more isolated. More in line with the typical afternoon thunderstorms that “pop up” in the summer heat. The second wave of storms will be more organized and arrive from the west in a line extending north to south along the Appalachian Mountains. This line will be able to generate very gusty winds along with large hail. Although a tornado is not currently in the forefront of the forecast, the threat is not zero. The timing of the second line is expected to be in the late afternoon to early evening, and linger and move east until about 10 pm.
