CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – On Monday afternoon, a two-vehicle crash occurred in Campbell County at the intersection of Route 501 and Eastbrook Road, according to Virginia State Police.

A 2000 Toyota Camry was driving west on Eastbrook Road when it failed to stop at a posted stop sign and proceeded to enter the intersection with Route 501. The Camry traveled into the northbound lanes of Route 501 where it was struck by a 1996 Volvo 960.

The driver of the Toyota, Roy R. McDonaldson, 80, of Lynchburg died at the scene.

The driver of the Volvo, Glenn Lomax, 59, of Madison Heights was not injured.

Both were wearing a seat belt.

At this stage of the investigation, VSP says it appears that a medical emergency may have been a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
