Today, Southern Trust Home Services held their Back to School Bash and Stuff the Bus campaign. The home service experts collaborated with partners Big Lick Entertainment, Macaroni Kid Roanoke, and Rail Yard Dawgs.
The bash had various games and crafts, such as a life-size checkerboard and cornhole. Complimentary ice cream was served by Freedom First Credit Union and generous portions of popcorn were being handed out by Southern Trust Home Service employees.
However, this event was not only focused on fun and games.
When pulling up to the event, a historic teal bus stretched across the parking lot with a banner, reading, “Stuff the Bus.” The large sign was a call to drop off school supplies for children of southwest Virginia, and fill the seats and isles that once held passengers with school items.
“We’re really an advocate for children. Knowing this is a great cause, we wanted to give something back to the kids,” said Cindee Hensley as she handed over a large donation box of school supplies.
Hensley, a mother of two with prior school experience explained that she has come across many children that have needed things.
All donations received will be given to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia.
If you missed the bash today, do not fret. The event will continue until Saturday, August 17, from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. It is being held at Southern Trust Home Services: 5205 Starkey Road, Unit B, Roanoke, Virginia 24018.
