ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) On Tuesday, August 6, 2019, Sears announced they are closing more stores.
The company said it will cease operations in 26 Sears and Kmart locations across the country. The store on Valley View Mall is on that list.
Sears, a once-thriving retailer has been struggling and was forced to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy back in October 2018.
In a press release, Sears says; After careful review of where we are today, we believe the right course for the company is to accelerate the expansion of our smaller store formats which includes opening additional Home & Life stores and adding several hundred Sears Hometown stores after the Sears Hometown and Outlet transaction closes.
Sears says, all eligible associates will be offered the same number of weeks of severance as offered to employees of Sears Holdings Corporation.
The liquidation sales are expected to begin around August 15.
