Search continues for man wanted on 21 charges


LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department is searching for Andrew Mills Cox, 35, who is wanted on four outstanding warrants, including abduction and kidnapping, strangulation, and breaking and entering, according to department spokesperson Carrie Dungan.

According to Dungan, on Saturday afternoon, a Lynchburg Police Department officer spotted a blue minivan weaving in and out of traffic, driving 78 miles per hour is a 55 mph zone. The officer attempted to pull over the driver, later identified as Cox, for reckless driving.

Dungan said the pursuit resulted in the officer losing sight of the minivan, eventually finding it crashed in the lawn of Trax International in Forest.

In addition to the four outstanding warrants, Cox is now wanted on 17 additional charges stemming from the pursuit, including possession of a controlled substance, hit and run, and multiple counts of reckless driving.

Dungan said Cox has been seen in multiple locations Saturday night. Anyone with information on his location are asked to contact the Lynchburg Police Department.
