Salem woman searches for half siblings

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – After being told by her father that she was an only child. 19-year-old Jonica Richardson is on a mission.

“I was told recently that my father might have more children out there,” says Richardson.

She’s looking for her half siblings and through her search, the number of potential children keeps growing.

“It’s possible that there were 7 more I was told 5 to 7.”

She’s found a potential sibling through the use of Facebook, and she’s also contacting people from her father’s high school as well.

“Well it’s pretty exciting honestly it’s kind of nerve racking when ever I got in contact with my other sister Allie my aunt actually told me about her and I was ecstatic. Just finding out you have other blood out there that’s your siblings it really is.”

Richardson is constantly piecing pictures and other clues together to solve the puzzle.

“I’ve asked hundreds of people do you have absolutely any information any of that could help and I may come to a dead end but I’m hoping that dead end will actually end up somewhere.”

Even with some misses here and there, Richardson remains optimistic.

“Just knowing what it feels like to not know where you belong I don’t want one of my siblings out there thinking the same thing wondering if they have more and maybe I have to make that first step and if that’s the case I’ll do it.”
