SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – Goodwill Industries of the Valleys officially launched the newest solar-powered store at their store and distribution center at 1493 East Main Street in Salem.
The new rooftop solar array is expected to save about $400,000 in electricity costs for the life of the solar cells as well as keep more than 200 tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.
The solar array is expected to pay for itself in the first year.
Officials at Goodwill Industries of the Valleys are interested in bringing this new technology to other stores in our region.
They are the first non-profit in our area to incorporate solar technology.
