The Salem Fair opened its gate Wednesday afternoon.
Attendees could choose from dozens of ride options and more than a handful of attractions. There is plenty of family fun to go around.
“I come to bring my kids so they can have a great time,” said Lindsey Shively.
One of the new attractions at this year’s fair is Woody’s Barnyard Racers — pigs, ducks, goats, and dogs race on a track.

“Great turnout, people seem to be having a great time and I mean look at the price of the gate,” said Woody. “Guarantee you are going to get more money for your buck.”
Another reason people come to the fair is for the food. Attendees can feast on fried oreos, funnel cake, corn dogs, and even cereal milkshakes.
WFXR was the sponsor of opening night. The station will also be sponsoring Salem Food Pantry Night on Thursday, July 11.
Attendees who bring in two non-perishable food items can get a ride wrist band for $15. They’re $25 dollars without a donation.
The Salem fair will be open for two weeks. More than 350,000 people are expected to visit the fair this year.
