Route 8 at Exit 114 to be closed August 8, 9, and 10.

A vehicle accident that happened around 12:21 p.m. today on Route 863 in Pittsylvania County has closed all northbound and southbound lanes.

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – Drivers should prepare for upcoming delays on Route 8 in Montgomery County and the Town of Christiansburg.

All lanes under the overpass in both directions on Route 8 will be closed on August 8, 9, and 10 during nighttime hours while girders for a new bridge for I-81 are set into place.

Route 8 will be closed at the interchange with I-81 at exit 114, between the ramps to and from the interstate. The road will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. each night through 7 a.m. the following morning.

All traffic headed in the direction of the construction area from north and southbound Route 8 will be required to take the ramps onto southbound I-81 and northbound I-81, respectively.
