News

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke City Public Schools will host a second trauma-responsive parent meeting, a forum for parents to learn tips to help their children process potentially dramatic events.

While an active shooter incident may last minutes to several hours, the trauma on a child can have lasting impacts.

According to Education Week, there were 25 school shootings in 2019 in the U.S. and 51 people who were killed or injured as a result.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. at Patrick Henry High School, located at 2102 Grandin Rd. SW.
