Roanoke, Va. (WFXR) – Today, on giving Tuesday, an ambitious project worthy of being supported has the opportunity to get a financial headstart.

The Roanoke Hospitality House has not yet been built, but it will provide a place to stay for families of inpatients, caregivers, and outpatients with serious illnesses.

The need for the Hospitality House in Roanoke continues to increase as the area grows and more medical facilities are being built.

Although organizers need 3.2 million dollars to get this project underway, every dollar counts. That’s where generous donors come in… FedStar Credit Union is matching all donations today to the project. A dollar for a dollar, a hundred dollars for a dollar.

This is not just a hotel for someone to stay in while their family member is receiving treatment or is ill, but it really is a community and that’s what is so important about this. So we want to have a common area, living area, they can watch TV. We want to have a commercial kitchen, a large dining area, so that they can come in and feel comfortable. Even if they’re immune compromised from their treatments. They can come in, sit down, and have a meal with other people that are going through things very similar.

Terrianne Julian- Executive Director, Roanoke Hospitality House

Terrianne, the driving force behind the project shared the many reasons why the Roanoke Hospitality House is a necessity in the Roanoke area.
