FLOYD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Officials are suggesting residents boil there water after a 4-inch ductile iron water line burst along Route 221.

The ruptured line caused a water outage throughout Floyd.

Residents should boil water for any form of consumption. Water used for washing laundry, or dishes, and bathing does not need need to be boiled beforehand. Laundry bleach should be added to dishwater before washing dishes.

Officials say the water line has been repaired.

Anyone concerned about possible consumption during the water outage should seek medical attention.
