Residential structure fire in the Hollins area of Roanoke County

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Fire and Rescue crews from Roanoke County responded to a fire Friday afternoon in the 5900 block of Dairy Road.

Crews from Hollins were first on-scene and found smoke coming from the eaves and front door of a single-story brick home. When crews made their way inside, they found smoke and fire in the basement area. The fire was brought under control in about 10 minutes.

The cause of the fire was electrical in nature. Damage to the home is estimated to be around $20,000.

A single male occupant was not at home at the time of the fire.
