RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) – The holiday shopping season is in full force.
If you’re wondering what to give someone, the Virginia Lottery and the Virginia Council on Problem Gambling (VACPG) are teaming to remind everyone to remember that giving lottery tickets away as gifts isn’t always a good idea.
For instance, it’s against Virginia law to give lottery tickets to minors.
The Virginia Lottery has produced a PSA reminding Virginians not to gift lottery tickets to anyone under the age of 18.
“We work diligently at the Virginia Lottery to market our products responsibly and ethically,” said Virginia Lottery Executive Director Kevin Hall. “When giving lottery tickets as gifts, it is important to consider the age of the recipient.”
This is the 14th year that the Virginia Lottery and the VACPG have teamed up in the message which is also coming courtesy of the National Council on Problem Gaming, the International Centre for Youth Gambling Programs and High-Risk Behaviors at McGill University as well as dozens of other lottery corporations around the world about increasing public awareness about giving lottery products to children as gifts.
