AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) has launched an investigation after skeletal remains were discovered at a construction site in Fishersville on May 23rd.

According to the sheriff’s office, on Tuesday around 9:33 a.m., deputies were notified of skeletal remains being found at a residential building site in the 1600 block of Tinkling Springs Road in Fishersville. On the scene, investigators learned the remains were discovered when a contractor was digging footers for a new home.

The remains were sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiners in Roanoke to be identified.

The sheriff’s office says the remains do not appear to be related to any active missing person’s case in the county.
