Norton Police Chief discharged from hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries

NORTON, Va. (WFXR) — Norton Police Chief James Lane was released from the hospital Friday after sustaining life-threatening injuries when he was shot in the line of duty.

Lane was shot twice during a shooting near a Norton Walmart on May 7. He was transported to Norton Community Hospital before being airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center.

On May 13, Lane returned to Norton Community Hospital for recovery and rehab.

The man who shot Lane, James Buckland, is facing several charges.
