ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – As the American Red Cross has issued a dire plea for blood donations after announcing its first national blood crisis, Dunkin’ of Virginia is joining with the organization to recognize the importance of giving blood and platelets while honoring those who roll up their sleeve to help patients in need.

Dunkin’ of Virginia has provided 27,000 vouchers for a free medium iced coffee and a classic donut from blood and platelet donors in Virginia.

Throughout January, presenting donors at Red Cross donor sites in Virginia will receive a voucher that is redeemable at participating Dunkin’ restaurants, while supplies last, at the following locations:

  • Charlottesville
  • Harrisonburg
  • Midlothian
  • Greater Norfolk area
  • Greater Richmond area
  • Roanoke
  • Tidewater Peninsula
  • Outer Banks, North Carolina

“As the pandemic wears on into the New Year, blood donations remain essential to the health of our communities. Our collaboration with Dunkin’ allows us to thank our donors with a special gift this January and helps ensure blood products are available for patients.”

Jonathan McNamara, American Red Cross Regional Communications Manager

As COVID-19 continues to affect everyday life, people may not be thinking about donating blood; however, blood and platelets are needed every day to help patients battling disease and facing the unexpected.

Donating blood is an easy way to care for each other and ensure hospitals have the blood products that patients rely on.
