FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Virginia Lottery confirms that a winning $1 million Powerball ticket was purchased in northern Virginia.
Though the top prize of $699.8 million was from a ticket sold in California, one ticket sold in Virginia matched the five primary numbers (12-22-54-66-69), minus the Powerball number of 15, from the Monday, Oct. 4 drawing.
In Monday night’s drawing, more than 53,000 Powerball tickets bought in Virginia won prizes including the one $1 million ticket as well as two other tickets which each one $50,000.
The two $50,000 tickets were purchased in Springfield (Fairfax County) and in Orange.
That $1 million ticket was purchased online and is from a resident in Oakton (Fairfax County).
Powerball drawings are held each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
