BOONE, NC (WFXR) — The North Carolina State Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who was found dead on the Blue Ridge Parkway last weekend.
Investigators identified the man as 33-year-old Josue Calderon of Rhode Island. The National Park Service (NPS) says they received a call from a visitor at approximately 1:14 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9. NPS says the visitor told dispatchers that a body was found on an overlook.
Investigators are treating this incident as a homicide.
Special Agents from the NPS Investigative Services Branch were assisted by NPS law enforcement rangers, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and Watauga County Sheriff’s Office.
