News

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR News) — Roanoke City police are investigating after a man was attacked and taken to the hospital.

According to police, at around 7:30 Wednesday evening officers were called to the 800 block of Tazewell Ave SE for reports of a “person down.”

Police said when officers arrived on scene they found a man suffering from severe injuries to his face.

“We do not want this in our area and if you’re going to be doing something like that, then please take it somewhere else or don’t do it at all,” said Toby Shannon, a nearby neighbor. “There are some in the neighborhood that just generate nothing but hate.”

David Hodges, another nearby neighbor, added “From what I understand, yes, that is pretty surprising…It’s not that big of a reflection on this neighborhood.”

The victim was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Roanoke Fire-EMS for treatment.

No arrests have been made in this incident. The investigation is ongoing.
