South Boston Police investigate after woman shot


SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (WFXR) — Police are investigating after a 41-year-old woman was shot and airlifted to the hospital Sunday evening.

According to police, officers got a call about shots fired in the 600 block of Easley Street around 7:50 p.m.

When officers arrived on the scene they found a woman on the ground with a gunshot wound to her leg.

Police said the woman was airlifted to Duke Medical Center in North Carolina.

While on the scene, officers got a description of the suspect vehicle involved in the shooting.

According to police, shortly after the shooting, officers located a vehicle matching the description in the 1800 block of Vaughan Street in South Boston and then obtained a search warrant for the premises and vehicles located at the home.

Police said during their search they found several firearms and evidence from the residence and vehicles.

At this time no arrests have been made and this case is still under investigation.
