Dry conditions and gusty wind will combine to increase the fire danger across the region on Saturday.

Besides low humidity of 20-30% in the middle of the day, wind will gust tonight and tomorrow to over 20-30 mph. Extreme caution should be used to avoid sparking a blaze.

An Air Quality Alert is in effect until midnight for Amherst, Bedford, and Rockbridge counties. It will vary from Code Orange to Code Red and Code Maroon due to the changing flow of smoke from the Matts Creek Fire.

This evening will be cloudy with a cold front bringing isolated to scattered showers that will move through quickly.

Saturday will be mostly by afternoon with morning lows in the 40s and 50s and highs around 55-65.
Have a safe and enjoyable night.
