Clearing and cold overnight as high pressure migrates toward the Commonwealth. Tonight, temps will be in the mid-20s most locations with some lingering mountain snow over west facing slopes of the Alleghany Mountains.

Tuesday will be the sunny day of the week as the skies will be blue and the air will be mild. High temperatures in Roanoke will top out near 50 with all the solar energy.

Don’t get too used to the sunshine as a wintry rain is on the way Wednesday. Rain will be mixed with a little freezing rain (icy) for our mid-week event.

Our area once again is on the southern fringe of the winter storm to our north, so we are looking at the potential for some snow and ice north of Interstate 64 while the rest of the region looks at a cold rain.

The wintery rain and mix exit the Commonwealth Wednesday night and apart from some lingering snow in the Mountains, we should be dry and breezy, and chilly into the weekend.
