A familiar movie theater in Blacksburg has new management and a new name.
Frank Theatres Cinebowl and Grille is now Paragon Theaters – First and Main.
A ribbon cutting was held Thursday and the public was able to see the new changes.
The previous theater owners filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and were forced to close the theaters doors for a period of time back in 2017. This occurred after the owners feel behind on rent.
The new owners have made renovations to the movie theater.
“What we want to be is one-stop entertainment shopping. You can come see a movie one night, dine at McClains, have your kids come play at the arcade bowl, and so it’s really an entertainment destination that we wanted to create not only for Blacksburg but for the surrounding communities as well Roanoke etc.,” said Michael Whalen, the CEO and owner of Paragon Theaters – First and Main.
The theater will have $6 Tuesday movie specials and student tickets have been dropped to $7.
“Being local, I think we will tap into a lot of marketing with some local establishments do a lot of charities etc.,” said Whalen. “We think we want to be that local theater neighborhood place to go for entertainment and we want you to give us a try.”
