The region is making a noticeable transition from our green blanket of colors to the yellow, red and orange leaves we enjoy each Autumn season. The changing colors depend a great deal on the weather to give them their brilliance, or lack thereof. This year the weather may not have been too kind to the “leaf peepers”. Our vibrant palettes we have grown so accustomed to in recent years may be more on the dull or modest side of the color scale. The very warm September impacted the foliage and I believe we should see more of a dull color change this year in stead of our picture postcard foliage display.
Overall the leaves are changing, they are still very lovely. We should still enjoy a wonderful morning or afternoon drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway or any number of highways that twist and turn through Virginia and West Virginia.
