CNN — According to CNN reports, Otto Warmbier’s parents have filed a claim to a North Korean cargo ship that was seized by the United States.
Warmbier’s parents say the ship could be used to pay off part of the family’s $500M judgement against the country.
The Warmbier’s were awarded the money in December as part of their wrongful death lawsuit filed against the North Korean government.
Otto was a UVA student when he was detained for 17 months by the North Korean government for torturing Otto before returning him to the U.S. last year.
Otto died shortly after his return.
The new suit claims North Korea did not participate in any settlement discussions and they will continue to seek the country’s assets.
