One soldier killed, two others injured during training in severe weather

RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) — A U.S. Army Reserve soldier was killed while training at Fort Pickett on Monday night.

The Virginia National Guard says two soldiers were also injured when a large tree fell.

Soldiers were going through training during the storm.

Virginia National Guard reminds families that no news is good news: If a family has not been contacted, their soldier is safe.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the Soldier who was killed, and we wish a speedy recovery to the Soldiers who were injured.”
