North Cross senior Euan Spikers Thursday signed to play football with Bridgewater College, giving him the opportunity to finally fulfill a dream that began as young boy back in Australia that nearly got derailed due to an ACL injury this past summer, just before his Senior year at North Cross School and his first season of American high school football began.
Euan came from Clifton Springs, Australia to North Cross School in December of his junior year in high school with one goal- play American Football in America. He had been the team MVP twice and once named Rookie of the Year for his Australian American Football team back home. To bide his time last spring, once fully going at North Cross, Euan got involved with the lacrosse and track programs for the Raiders. However, last summer, Euan unfortunately tore his ACL, had surgery and had to re-hab this entire past fall missing out on his entire Senior season of playing high school football. Amazingly, Euan’s determination and perseverance kicked in and he emerged stronger than ever from the injury. This spring, he competed, once again for the Raiders Track and Field team and earned three-time All-Conference honors (1st in the 4×100 meter relay, 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles & 2nd in the high jump) and was also just named the team’s MVP! While Euan is obviously a talented track athlete, his heart still belongs to football.
