ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The new Metis Plaza is officially open for business.
The plaza is established in the former Allstate building on Electric Road, which was built in the 1970s.
Metis Holdings, a local insurance and risk management services firm, purchased the building in April 2017.
The redevelopment project included five new businesses in the Oak Grove planning effort including:
- Lucas & Kite law firm
- Vistar Children’s Eye Care Center
- Fit Studio
- Lapis Cafe & Lounge
“This redevlopment project brings significant new employment back to the Oak Grove area of the County and supports our goal of repurposing underutilized properties in key commercial corridors,” said Jill Loope, economic development director for Roanoke County.
Metis Plaza was a $10 million investment, and 250 people were hired to work for the new businesses.
Renovations will continue through 2020.
