New manager steps up to manage the Pulaski Yankees

News

The Appalachian League season gets underway Tuesday.
On deck the Pulaski Yankees open up the season with a 3 game road series at Johnson City before coming home this Friday to open the up the Calfee park portion of their schedule against Bluefield. The pinstripes are back. Except this time with a new manager. “We’ve got a good group of guys that not only are just pitching but hitting and it’s going to be exciting to see,” said Pulaski Yankees manager Luis Dorante. Manager Luis Dorante’s 2019 squad is packed with young talent. Talent that is just as hype about being a Yankee as Dorante. “I tell you the first time I ever put on a full pinstripe uniform on. It kind of  gave me chills I was walking past the bathroom and I saw myself in the mirror and I kind of took my breath away. I kind of had to stop and look around and look at myself and say wow this is real,”  said Pulaski Yankees pitcher Derek Craft. With a new manager at the helm, expectations are even higher. “He demands effort and for us to give everything we have. But we almost want to do it. He says he wants you to go hard and you want to go hard for him,” said Craft. “It’s our job to press a little bit of those buttons on a daily basis. So it’s just a matter of not letting it slide that’s going to be our character,” said Dorante. With this new found system in place, the Yankees may just be the team to beat.
