New City Manager hired

COVINGTON, Va. (WFXR) — A new city manager has been appointed in the City of Covington.

Krystal M. Onaitis, a Richmond native, was hired to the position based on her leadership experience and innovative approach in municipal government operations, according to Mayor Thomas Sibold, Jr.

Onaitis takes the role just six months after former City Manager, Richard Douglas, announced his resignation effective February 1.

Onaitis was in charge of the government side of the public-private partnership with AvePoint in Richmond.

She also served as a senior advisor to former Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones.

Onaitis has a B.A. in political science and a master’s degree in public administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Her first day in her new role will be August 1.
