(WFXR) — Unilever United States — the company that makes Suave products — is recalling two of its products because of high levels of benzene.

Two Suave 24-Hour Protection Aerosol Antiperspirants show to have slightly elevated levels of benzene that came from the propellant that sprays the product out of the can.

Benzene is a human carcinogen and exposure — whether through inhalation, orally, or on the skin — can cause cancers like leukemia, blood cancers of the bone marrow, and blood disorders that can be life-threatening.

While the Suave 24-Hour Protection Aerosol Antiperspirant product was discontinued in October 2021, there was a limited distribution at retail stores and online. Stores have been told to remove the products from shelves. People who purchased this product will be reimbursed by Unilever.
