CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – The Clayton County Police Department says one of their officers was among four people who died amid a shootout Tuesday night.

The department says officers responded at 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30 to a drive-by shooting call near the 3600 block of Jervis Court in Rex, Georgia.

Police say responding officers were met at the scene by a 12-year-old victim who had a gunshot wound to the face. The child led officers to the residence.

An armed man at the home reportedly began to shoot at responding officers, hitting two of the officers.

One officer died and the other officer sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police returned fire at the man, killing him.

Authorities also discovered two dead women at the scene. The victims’ identities have not been released pending next of kin notification.

Police say the child is currently in critical condition at a hospital.

The Clayton County Police Department is still investigating the incident.
