CHICAGO, Ill. (WGN) — An eight-month-old girl has been safely returned after being taken during a violent home invasion in Chicago’s Irving Park neighborhood, according to Chicago police.
The invasion happened in the 3800 block of North Richmond around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Police said a 17-year-old mother told officers that a man she knows kicked in her front door, and demanded she put her eight-month-old daughter in a car seat.
Chicago police say the man then struck the 17-year-old in the head before running away with the baby. Hours after the incident, the man returned with the baby and then left the scene.
Emergency services were called, and the baby was put into an ambulance and taken to an area hospital for observation.
At this time no one is in custody. Area Five detectives are investigating.
