MVP protester uses “sleeping dragon” during protest

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police specially-trained personnel had to remove a man from a “sleeping dragon” device during a protest.

On Thursday Evin Tyler Ugur, of Massachusetts, was arrested and charged for obstruction during his Mountain Valley Pipeline protest.

State Troopers were called to Cove Hollow Road close to 1 p.m. for several trespassers.

Ugur had locked himself to a “sleeping dragon” buried in the ground. “Sleeping dragons” are a device commonly used during protests.

“Sleeping Dragons” are made of PVC pipe, and are typically used when a protester locks on to something. The device makes it difficult for authorities to use bolt cutters to remove protesters.

Ugur was offered medical services if he removed himself from the “Sleeping Dragon,” but he refused.

He’s been banned from all pipeline property.
