WFXR is learning new details in the case of a Bedford County homicide.
72-year-old John Menna was found seriously injured inside his Moneta home on June 4th. The person who found Menna injured called for help. When Bedford County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on scene, Menna was dead.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Roanoke determined Menna’s cause of death to be sharp force injuries to his head, neck, and chest. The manner of death is homicide.
On June 6th, 23-year-old Dalton Holbrook was arrested in connection to the crime. Holbrook is being held in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is expected to be extradited back to Virginia to face charges of grand larceny and second degree murder.
Holbrook has a court appearance scheduled for the morning of June 12.
According to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, Holbrook and Menna were acquaintances.
