A ribbon cutting ceremony and an open house were held Wednesday to celebrate the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce’s new building.
Staff and members tell WFXR News they’ve been dreaming of this day, especially after facing financial issues.
In 2010, the former director embezzled money from the Chamber.
For the past nine years, the Chamber has been working to pay off a $75,000 loan that was taken out in order for them to stay afloat.
“It’s exciting, and our board members are thrilled. Some of the board members from many years ago were here today for the ribbon cutting, and they had such wonderful things to say,” said Executive Director Sharon Scott. “The word ‘finally, it’s happening…we’ve done this.’ And that’s what it is. It’s being a part of a team and we’re all working together to achieve those goals.”
The ribbon cutting symbolized the next chapter in the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce’s work.
