Man arrested after threatening church service in Raleigh County

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – It’s something you pray you will not have to face, especially at church.  A man threatening violence and harm.  Deputies in Raleigh County were called to the New Beginnings Church on Sunday, April 7, 2019. 

The church is located on Stanaford Road.  Investigators said Jerry Wayne Hall pushed over the pulpit during a church service and threatened the congregation.  According to a release, Hall told the people at the church he had guns and could harm them.  Several men were able to grab Hall and get him out of the church until deputies arrived. 

Hall was taken into custody for disrupting a church service.  There were five loaded guns discovered in Hall’s vehicle.  Deputies said Hall stated several times he would return to finish the job when he got out of jail.  Investigators also searched Hall’s home and seized more guns and ammunition.  

Hall his charged with Terroristic Threats and Disruption of Religious Process.  He is held in the Southern Regional Jail on an $8,000 bond and a $75,000 bond with conditions.
